Tim Hurner, Interim County Extension Director and Citrus Extension Agent, provides leadership to the Highlands County Extension Program and the Extension Citrus Program. Tim Hurner is responsible for the administrative operation of the Highlands County Extension Program.

Tim Hurner has both a Bachelor of Science and a Masters Degree from the University of Florida in Fruit Crops - Citrus Production. He was previously the Extension Agent-Citrus in Highlands County for thirty two years, and County Extension Director for sixteen of those years. He was a Professor of Horticulture at South Florida Community College in Avon park, Florida for four years.

He was also a Professor of Citrus in the Horticultural Science Department at Florida Southern College in Lakeland , Florida for eight years where he was also director of the FSC Citrus Institute where he managed the department endowment, student recruitment and student placement.
